Welcome to Texas Shockers! I'm Shadia Rueb, your devoted and passionate Director, and I'm thrilled to share a bit about my journey and the exciting direction we're heading. Having proudly called the CTX area home for over a decade, my volleyball odyssey began in Middle School. Little did I know that this sport would evolve into my true passion, becoming a constant companion through life's twists and turns. In High School, volleyball took the spotlight, offering the thrill of breaking records and the adrenaline rush of playoff victories. Over the past two decades, volleyball has been more than just a sport to me; it's been a guiding force, shaping my experiences through highs and lows. With over a decade of coaching experience in UIL, five years in AAU/Club coaching, and my current roles as an Athletic Coordinator and Head Varsity Volleyball coach, I've dedicated myself to sharing my love and knowledge of the game. The privilege of running several camps and clinics has allowed me to shape the skills of aspiring athletes, fostering a community where passion for volleyball thrives. For me, volleyball is not just a game; it's a true passion. My mission is crystal clear – to develop the skill set of each athlete and propel them beyond their comfort zones to discover their true abilities. The growth of this program excites me, and I look forward to seeing each athlete not only meet but surpass their expectations. Meet Coach Love, our dedicated and passionate volleyball coach at Texas Shockers. With over a decade of playing experience, Coach Love brings a wealth of expertise and a contagious love for the game to our team. Coach Love's extensive background in volleyball, spanning from middle school through collegiate levels, reflects not only a deep understanding of the sport but also a genuine passion that inspires those around them. While Coach Love had the privilege of playing in all positions on the court, their heart finds its groove in hitting, particularly in the outside and middle positions. Volleyball isn't just a game to her; it's a passion that runs deep in her veins. In fact, it's probably the only sport she could talk someone's ear off about for hours!
After years of playing and competing, Coach Love found herself drawn to the idea of coaching. This marks her second season with the Texas Shockers. Her commitment to excellence and love for the game serve as a cornerstone for our team's journey, fostering a positive and dynamic environment where players can thrive and develop her skills. Welcome to a season filled with skill-building, camaraderie, and the infectious enthusiasm that Coach Love brings to every practice and game! Meet Coach Smith, our dedicated and passionate volleyball coach at Texas Shockers. With six years of playing experience, Coach Smith brings a wealth of expertise and a contagious love for the game to our team.
From the very beginning, Coach Smith fell in love with volleyball, drawn to the excitement and the lasting memories it created, especially when shared with friends. This love for the sport ultimately evolved into a desire to impart knowledge and joy to others, leading Coach Smith to pursue a coaching role.
Coaching provides Coach Smith with the unique opportunity to not only share the technical aspects of the game but also to inspire and motivate young athletes. Coach Smith believes in the power of encouragement and the fulfillment that comes from witnessing players grow and develop both individually and as a team.
What Coach Smith cherishes most about volleyball is the satisfaction that comes from overcoming obstacles as a team. The camaraderie built through shared challenges and triumphs is what makes the sport truly special for Coach Smith.
Currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at UTSA, Coach Smith exemplifies the importance of balancing passion for sports with dedication to education. This commitment to personal growth serves as an inspiration for our team members, demonstrating the value of pursuing one's interests both on and off the court.
